Welcome

The cast of The Other Theatre Company's most recent production, The Musical Importance of Being EarnestThe Other Theatre Company is named after an almost dismissive remark. We have to see if we can live it down.

Given a tiny company and a little stage in a village hall our beginnings were hardly promising. Our aim remains: we have to believe that we can be the finest one among the finest am-dram companies in Britain.

We’ve swapped the little stage – it’s big now. We’ve invested in lots of stage lights – not powerful but suitable. Our tiny company is akin to a repertory company. We play to our strengths. We never perform rubbish or choose ‘easy’ pieces. Scenery is good and getting better. We dress our productions brilliantly. We talk, we dance, we sing. We do everything from Edwardian Music Hall to seasoned musicals. And Ayckbourn – we love Ayckbourn. We have a world premiere on our hands!

The actors improve with each production, as do production values. A few more actors would help. We don’t mean veterans especially but those who think they might like to try. You can succeed but it is hard work. On the other hand you will receive all the help you need.
